Lumident was both a branding and interior design project for a dental polyclinic in Beirut.
In the biggest multidisciplinary design project we have had the chance to work on, the challenge was to design a seamlessly wholesome brand and space of a dental polyclinic. The development of a strong concept and fabricating the narrative that drives this concept allowed for a strong approach and a confident design for both disciplines. Both designs of space and brand remained faithful to the concept thus providing a homogeneous and strong end product. The process began with a series of brainstorming and design sessions that allowed us to “write the story” of the polyclinic. This story then allowed us to define all it’s characteristics and the characteristics of all the elements that are the structure of the identity and thus the space and the brand, including the name, the program etc… Spatially, the introduction of the language of masses vs. voids caters to a new understanding of clinical spaces and provides for a series of heterogeneous experiences and possibilities for interaction, and learning for patients and doctors. The branding and interior design processes remained interactive throughout the project, as they stemmed from the same concept which could be seen implemented in both in different methods and languages. Project designed and executed by Polypod. I worked on this project while at Polypod in 2009. |
